Day to day many thoughts just pass through my head but something struck me tonight, something made me want to write this. Maybe its for my own good and a concrete reminder to look back on, maybe its for you to read, maybe it has no purpose at all, all I know is here I am typing. I wake up each day not knowing what the day will bring just like everyone else. I go about my day in my normal routine of classes, work, and everything else I fit into a days time. But something made me think tonight, it made me look back and reflect on what I have done in my life in the past 5 years and where I am headed. I think there's a very big difference between stability and stagnation, although most people don't see it. The average persons life is just bland. They wake up to go to a job they don’t really like, they come home and watch hours of TV, then they go to bed to wake up and do it all over again. That’s not me. That’s not my purpose. I think about these people who give up their dreams to settle and replace their dreams with meaningless hobbies such as playing video games and watching TV. From day to day they will say, “I should have…”, “I thought about…”, “I almost…”. When they are 80 and looking back on their life they will think, “So this is it? That was my life?”. That is a waste in my eyes. Its almost as if some people just want to be average. They live their lives vicariously through reality TV and sitcom characters. Many define happiness as the struggling, enduring and accomplishing in a field that you truly love. Self actualization; the state of achieving everything your capable of. Simple enough you think? Well how many people are actually doing this? Are you truly happy with where your life is headed or are you just going through the motions? Are you settling for less than you should? Are you in control of your life and living the way you want to live it? People ask me from time to time why I do certain things. I say why not? Why not separate myself from 99.9% of the human population. Why not push my self and go the distance? Its not to be different, its to live my life like I want it to be lived.
